Multi-Arts Update from Ms. Baker

Hi, there! My name is Kate Baker. I am your child(ren)’s visual art teacher on Mondays and Tuesdays. I am also the performing arts teacher here at Maple on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Right now, the whole school is immersed in drama. Every class is working on a musical play that incorporates elements of theatre, music and dance – and units of study from the classroom! I hope that these plays will not only give your child(ren) a chance to shine, but also reinforce learning in reading, social studies, and science. Thanks to grant money from the PTSA, not only was I able to purchase these wonderful plays, I’ll be able to buy materials for costumes and props!

Over the course of the next two months your child(ren) will be rehearsing with me in class. Additionally, many students in 1st – 5th grade will be working to memorize lines. If your child(ren) bring(s) home a packet, please help with memorization. Simply saying the lines a few times every night works well. Once students have memorized their lines, we can start talking about characterization – making vocal and physical choices to show character. This is the real fun of acting!

As we get closer to April, I will send home information about when your child(ren) will be performing. Performances will be held on the stage during school hours.
If you have questions or would like to help out, please let me know!

Maple's Title One Parent Involvement Policy

Here is a link to the Title One Parent Involvement Policy. This has critical information about how the staff at our school and parents work together to provide an excellent learning experience for all students at Maple.

The policy was formally adopted by the PTSA Board in October of 2010.

You will be able to quickly find the document on the left side of the screen.

Cheers!!
