It's time for Wak-A-Thon! June 2nd

Walk-A-Thon is happening Friday, June 2nd. This is an exciting annual event that raises money for Maple PTSA as well as helps build confidence and promotes physical activity for our children. We are in need of the following volunteers to make this a great event:

   7:30am - 8:00am  
                     Set up Volunteers: Set up and decorate track and field
   7:30am - 2:30pm  
                     Water and Snack table Volunteers: Maintain and distribute snacks and waters to children
   8:00am - 10:00am  
                     Lap Counters: Keep track of laps by marking cards held by kids 
   11:45am - 12:30pm  
                     Lap Counters: Keep track of laps by marking cards held by kids 
   12:35pm - 2:10pm  
                     Lap Counters: Keep track of laps by marking cards held by kids 
   2:00pm - 3:00pm  
                     Clean up Volunteers: Clean up park area following the event

Staff Appreciation Week is May 8th-12th


Show your teachers and staff how much you care about them by participating in Appreciation Week. Each day there will be special participation themes and daily treats sponsored by the PTSA. Plus there will be a staff raffle and lots of giveaways!


Here are the week's activities:

Monday, May 8th: Bring or make a pretty flower
Staff treat: Coffee and breakfast

Tuesday, May 9th: Draw or bring a picture
Staff treat: Sandwich lunch platters

Wednesday, May 10th: Wear your teacher's favorite color
Staff treat: Coffee and doughnuts

Thurs, May 11th: Bring a treat or fruit for your teacher
Staff treat: Catered taco lunch from Barrio

Friday, May 12th: Create a handwritten note or card
Staff treat: Teacher Social Committee meal


Raffle prizes for staff to include:
Stationary gift pack from local artist
School supply gift bag
Artist t-shirts
Georgetown gift pack
Massage gift card
Asian treat bag
Movie pack
Various potted plants

Congratulations Maple for being a 2016 Washington Achievement Award winner!

Congratulations to the many schools in our district who have received the 2016 Washington Achievement Awards from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). Of the 280 winners, 23 were from Seattle, and a number of our schools are repeat winners.

The Washington Achievement Award is based on statewide assessment data for the three previous years. The hard-earned award acknowledge progress in the areas of English language arts (ELA), math, closing the achievement gap between subgroup of students, and overall academic success.

All schools will receive their awards in person at an OSPI ceremony on May 3, 2017 in Auburn. Read more about the Achievement Awards on the OSPI website. Schools will be formally honored by the Seattle Public Schools School Board and Superintendent Nyland an upcoming school board meeting.
